Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
Effective date: April 15, 2026
1. Who We Are
HeartsBridge (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a community platform that connects foster and kinship families with donors who provide specific items directly. We are operated by FosterAll and based in Santa Barbara County, California. Questions about this policy can be sent to info@fosterall.org.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the platform:
- Account information — name, email address, and password when you create an account (managed via Supabase Auth).
- Commitment details — when you commit to fulfilling a need, we collect your name, email, and optional phone number so we can coordinate delivery.
- Contact form submissions — name, email, and message content when you reach out through our contact page.
- Newsletter subscriptions — email address if you opt in to updates.
- Usage data — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) collected automatically to maintain and improve the service.
3. What We Do Not Collect
HeartsBridge does not process payments or collect any financial information. No credit card numbers, bank details, or payment data ever pass through our platform. Donors purchase and deliver items directly — no money changes hands through HeartsBridge.
4. How We Use Your Information
- To match donors with families and coordinate item delivery.
- To send transactional emails (commitment confirmations, delivery coordination).
- To send newsletter updates if you have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To respond to contact form inquiries.
- To maintain, improve, and secure the platform.
5. Family & Child Privacy
Protecting the dignity and safety of foster and kinship families is central to our mission. Need listings are anonymized — we never publicly display the full names, addresses, or identifying details of children or families. Only verified administrators have access to identifying information, and only to the extent necessary to coordinate donations.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers — we use third-party services (hosting, email delivery, authentication) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal requirements — if required by law, subpoena, or government request.
- Safety — if necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of HeartsBridge, our users, or the public.
7. Cookies & Analytics
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and maintain session state. We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand how the platform is used. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or necessary to resolve disputes.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Opt out of marketing communications at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@fosterall.org.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no system is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
11. Children's Privacy
HeartsBridge is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users via email or a prominent notice on the platform. Your continued use of HeartsBridge after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
13. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us or email info@fosterall.org.
